Obituary of Melvin R Barlow

GREENVILLE- Melvin R. Barlow, 96 died November 15 2014. He was born on July 14 1918, the son of Raymond and Sylvia (nee Spencer) Barlow in Ashland, NY. He is survived by his wife Nola (nee Wayman). They were married on May 17 1943, celebrating 71 years together. He is also survived by his children, Vicky (Albin) Beckmann, Lorna (Frank) Puleo, Derrick (Sandy) Barlow, Bradley Woodworth, Maria Santorini and Joseph Moss. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Mr. Barlow retired from the NYS-DOT, and also had a dairy farm on Mitchell Hollow Road, Windham, which he ran for many years before taking the job with the NYS-DOT. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, camping and anything to do with the outdoors. But most especially he enjoyed and loved his family. He was an honorary member of the Windham Fire-Police Department and a member of the Windham U.M Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mitchell Hollow Chapel Restoration Committee, 239 Siam Road, Windham NY 12496, as this was very important to him. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 19th 2014 from 11-1PM at the Decker Funeral Home, Windham NY. A funeral service will follow at 1PM in the funeral home. Interment will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland NY. Online condolences may be left at www.deckerfh.com .
