Obituary of John J. Poehmel
JOHN JAMES POEHMEL SR. "JOHNNY", 73, of Maplecrest Road, Hensonville, NY passed away June 1, 2018 at his loving home. Johnny retired after 27 years as a Maintenance Engineer at the Onteora Club Park, Tannersville, NY. He enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, he liked his cup of hot coffee with his lucky lotto coin for his scratch-offs tickets, he also enjoyed playing the drums and but most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Elaine "Linda" (Hoyt) Poehmel. His beloved daughter Frances Ann (John) Becker of Cairo, NY & son John James (Bonnie) Poehmel Jr. of Hensonville, NY and treasured grandchildren John Andrew, Emily Rose and Rachel Elizabeth Becker. He is pre-deceased by his parents Lawrence & Sally (Acker) Poehmel Sr., his brothers Lawrence Jr. and James & sister Lucille. He is survived by his brother William (Ruth) Poehmel Sr., sisters Carol Schiefer, Sally Saracino & Edith Nickels, sister-in-laws Noreen (Craig) Delong, Frances Kiefer, Katie Praetorius, Carol Macintosh & brother-in-law Duane (Bunny) Wagenbaugh and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements for cremation were made by Decker Funeral Home, Windham, NY. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, NY. As per Johnny's wishes no viewing or memorials are planned. A Celebration of His Life will take place June 24, 2018 @ 1-4pm at CD Lane Park, 281 County Route 56, Maplecrest, NY for friends & family.
