Obituary of Julia Wank Rhoades
Julia Wank Rhoades, 99, passed away June 16, 2018 at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson, NY.
She was born on July 11, 1918 in Northport, L.I., New York to Julia (Morris) and Joseph Ray. She moved to Maplecrest in her teen years and attended Windham High School, Windham, NY.
Julia worked as a waitress at the Sugar Maples Resort in Maplecrest, NY and in later years as a kitchen assistant for the employee's dinning room. She also worked at the Blue Moon Resturant in Windham, NY and as a store clerk at the Hensonville Frozen Food Lockers, Hensonville, NY. She was a homemaker until becoming a resident at the Pines Nursing Home in Catskill, NY Julia was actively involved in the Maplecrest and East Jewett United Methodist Churches. She devoted her time and energy to her family and helping others.
She is survived by her four children, sons,Gary (Carolyn) Wank, of Cario, NY, Larry (Maureen) Wank of Cornwallville, NY, Richard (Jill) Rhoades of Windham, NY and daughter Carolyn (Ronald) Garvey of Maplecrest, NY; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and step father John Warren; her husband Robert C. Rhoades in August 1994.
Calling hours will be held at Decker Funeral Home, 5312 Main Street, Windham, NY on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 1-3PM. A sevice to follow at 3PM. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, NY.
