Obituary of Wade Slater

Wayde Allen Slater, 51 of Cornwallville (Durham), passed away Monday April 30, 2018 at Hospice in Dayton, Ohio. He was born November 28, 1966 in Catskill, NY, a son of the late Seaford W Slater (Bub or Bud) and Wendalyn (Wendy) DuBois Slater. He was the grandson of late Stanley and Violett DuBois of Ashland, NY. He is survived by his mother Wendy Slater of New Vienna Ohio, his step father Stephen Picone of New Vienna Ohio, his brother Stacy D Slater of Prattsville NY, and his sister Yvette M Blain of Ashland NY. He also is survived by his nieces Erica Dayton of Murfreesboro TN, Marissa Slater of Cairo NY, his nephew Hunter Blain of Ashland NY and his niece Lacee Blain of Ashland NY. He had many great nieces and nephews. Wayde enjoyed fishing and camping as well as listening to music and working on cars. His father Bud Slater owned and operated Buds Repair Center, a car a truck repair shop in Cornwallville, NY. Wayde and his brother Stacy built and helped run the family business for many years. Wayde enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a man with a heart of gold and was very kind and gentle. He always had a big smile on his face. He never complained about anything and he will be truly missed. Funeral services will be held at Decker Funeral Home at 5312 Route 23 in Windham, NY 12496 on June 30th, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. There will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM – 2:00 at the Fairlawn Cemetery on Route 23 in Prattsville, NY. Friends and family will gather at the Ashland Firehouse located at 12094 Route 23 in Ashland, NY 12407 from 2:00 – 5:00. In lieu of flowers, there will be a donation basket at Decker Funeral Home to help with getting him a headstone. Checks can be made payable to Yvette Blain and write in the memo area Wayde Slater.
