Reginald O. Cross

 

Born November 16, 1927 to the late Herbert and Ethel N. Maben Cross, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, January 23 2019 in his Ashland home, surrounded by family.

 

Reginald, also known as “Reggie” attended, and graduated, from Windham Ashland Jewett High School, June 1946. He married his beloved wife, Ruth, in 1953 and later had 3 children. He was employed by the NYC Bureau of Water Supply DEP as a Supervisor, reservoir guard, Laborer, and later, foremen at Gilboa Reservoir. He retired on April 6, 1989.

 

Reggie was active in several community affairs. He was a Lifetime member of Ashland Fire Co. Chief and Commissioner, 4H Leader, Snowmobile Instructor, Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels, Member of 0529 Mountain Lodge, and Trustee for Ashland Community Church. He enjoyed hunting, dining out, “tinkering, “and traveling with his wife, Ruth.

 

He is survived by his wife Ruth of 65 years, their two sons, Jeffery (Jo) of Lexington and Timothy of Windham and their daughter Regina (Joe) Calabro of Hyde Park. Seven Grandchildren, John-Mike Daly of Lexington, Nicole (Phil) Couse of Oneonta, Charlene Cross of Prattville, Anthony (Shelbie) Calabro of Conway SC, Haro Calabro of Hyde Park, Lydia (Mark) Calabro of Ravina, Ziggy Cross of Australia. Seven great grandchildren, Skyler, Brian, Michael, Brayden, Lucien, Christopher, and Constantine. Predeceased by sisters Vera Schemm, Meriam Potter, Minnie Potter, Emma Grinnell and brothers Charles Cross and H. Bruce Cross.

 

Memorial Service will be at Ashland Fire House Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1-3PM.

 

Memorial Contributions can be made to Ashland Rescue Squad, Ashland Fire Company, Ashland Methodist Church, and Masonic Mountain Lodge, in lieu of flowers.
