Obituary of David Charles Truesdell
David Charles Truesdell, 95 of Prattsville, NY passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019. He was born August 31, 1923 in Prattsville, NY, the fifth child of Sylvia Alice (Morris) and Stephen Wright Truesdell. David began rural school in Little Westkill and then attended Grand Gorge Central School. As a young man he worked at the Lexington Creamery. He married Kathleen Musgrave in 1947 and together they ran a dairy farm and raised their two daughters, Diana and Donna. He also drove calf truck for Greendell Packing Co. of Prattsville in the Margaretville/New Kingston area. While doing that he met Steve Meinstein of Margaretville and they formed a friendship that lasted nearly 70 years. David retired from the NYCDEP as a Sewage Plant Operator. He was a member of Union DC-37 and the AFSCME Retirees group.
He married Shirley C. Moseman and after their retirement, they moved to Summerfield, FL. They lived there for 23 years and had many happy times with the friends they made there and while entertaining family and friends who knew where the “perfect” vacation spot was. He enjoyed planting flowers and most of all, riding the lawn tractor with his favorite cigar (just to keep the bugs away). In 2004 he and Shirley returned to Prattsville. David (aka Mr. T) enjoyed a long, happy life. He loved visiting, laughing and telling stories of earlier days. His favorite saying in recent years was, “I love the girls”, usually geared at waitresses and his caregivers. He loved his family; his friends and family returned that love and will miss him always.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Jaeger (Arnold), Donna Ramundo (Ron Gutierrez); stepdaughters, Virginia Kennedy, Margaret Warren (CW); and sister, Eva Irwin. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wives Kathleen Truesdell and Shirley Truesdell, stepdaughters Ruth (David) Kishpaugh, Janet Moseman and Mary (David) Duncan.
